as CTDA","
The Centre du Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui (CTDA) is exclusively dedicated to mounting dramatic productions by Québec playwrights, playing a leading role in the development of dramatic arts in Québec. In the autumn of 1991 the theatre left his small local on Papineau Street to move to its present quarters on St-Denis Street in Montréal where it can continue to grow and shine in Québec cultural scenery. Located on the site of a former cinema and two residential buildings, the CTDA entered a new phase of growth that will quickly lead to a maximum occupancy of its spaces.

The Jean-Claude Germain showroom – originally designed as a rehearsal room – soon became a small capacity venue to accommodate young emerging companies in residence. The rehearsal room’s lack of availabilities becoming increasingly problematic, the CTDA therefore aimed Scéno Plus, designers of the original project, to explore the possibility of adding a rehearsal room on the roof of the existing building, replace the movable seating, redo the stage floor and modernize the stage equipment. Scéno Plus’s study enables the theatre to get necessary funding from provincial and federal agencies as well as from the private sector. In October 2011, after a five months brief break, the Centre du Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui inaugurated its new facilities.

This versatile showroom combines the flexibility of a multi‑configurable room with the theatrical machinery of an italian‑style space. The “Trampoline Net”, a suspended grid made of steel cables, gives technicians more flexibility in terms of installations and covers the entire surface with lighting and sound equipment. Since the trampoline is partially retractable, the room can be configured italian-style with the use of special scene machinery. The tiers are completely mobile and removable. The stage can be mechanically enlarged with an elevator lifting the front section. our Co-Founder Patrick Bergé","The Origins of a Mission","
At the time, Quebec was sorely lacking in professional theaters, prompting a generation—led by Cégep Lionel-Groux and the Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui—to create its own art. It was there, and during summer tours across the province alongside Claude-André, that the young Patrick Bergé got his hands dirty. There, he observed the deplorable state of Quebec’s performance venues. The spaces for artists and technicians did not meet any standards, standing in stark contrast to the cultural vibrancy of the 1970s. This revelation would shape his professional mission: to provide artists with the best possible working conditions.

In 2026, the CTDA moved to St-Denis Street, and we wanted to celebrate this 35-year partnership together on our social media. Acoustic panels revolve to absorb or reflect sound as needed.","headline":"Centre du Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui","image":{"@type":"ImageObject","url":"https://scenoplus.com/uploads/Theatre-Aujourdhui/_1200x630_crop_center-center_82_none/CdTA1-3.jpg?mtime=1791906564"},"inLanguage":"en","mainEntityOfPage":"https://scenoplus.com/en/project/centre-theatre-dauj","name":"Centre du Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui","publisher":{"@id":"#creator"},"url":"https://scenoplus.com/en/project/centre-theatre-dauj"},"identity":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@id":"https://scenoplus.com#identity","@type":"ProfessionalService","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressCountry":"CA","addressLocality":"Montréal","addressRegion":"QC","postalCode":"H2H 2C3","streetAddress":"5423, avenue De Lorimier"},"email":"info@scenoplus.com","image":{"@type":"ImageObject","height":"1392","url":"https://scenoplus.com/uploads/Logo_scenoplus.png","width":"1392"},"logo":{"@type":"ImageObject","height":"600","url":"https://scenoplus.com/uploads/_600x600_fit_center-center_82_none/Logo_scenoplus.png?mtime=1791995561","width":"600"},"name":"Scéno Plus","sameAs":["https://www.facebook.com/Scenoplus","https://www.linkedin.com/company/sceno-plus","https://www.youtube.com/@Sceno_Plus","https://www.instagram.com/scenoplus"],"telephone":"+1-514-529-4364","url":"https://scenoplus.com"},"creator":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@id":"#creator","@type":"Organization"},"breadcrumbList":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"BreadcrumbList","description":"Breadcrumbs list","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","item":"https://scenoplus.com/en","name":"Home","position":1},{"@type":"ListItem","item":"https://scenoplus.com/en/project/centre-theatre-dauj","name":"Centre du Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui","position":2}],"name":"Breadcrumbs"}}"]
