In 1999, Cité de l’Énergie hired Scéno Plus to conduct a feasibility study on creating a show in a 912-seat outdoor amphitheatre. Scéno Plus, in collaboration with Polyscènes Productions, went on to design a unique rotating amphitheatre, as well as all the technical infrastructures and theatrical equipment systems required for the show.

    • Cité de l’Énergie is a flourishing interpretation centre located in Shawinigan, Canada.
    • The tourist attraction required an upscale evening entertainment venue to entice visitors to stay overnight.

    • The creative team took full advantage of the unique features of the location, with the action moving from the river to the plain, from the forest to the huge observation tower.

  • Stage

    • Many components of the 86-foot wide rotating platform were custom-made for the project.
    • A one-of-a-kind motorization system softly accelerates and decelerates the impressive mass with the whole audience aboard.

  • 360° rotation

    • The ball bearing system can withstand a weight of 100,000 pounds.
    • The 360º rotation of the amphitheatre made the design of the electrical infrastructures and cabling a sizeable challenge.
